You will have seen many cars with French plates on (The M20 is full of them - but they normally are genuine French cars). By having these plates on your car, you do take the risk of a £30 fine if stopped by the police, but no points on your license yet! (correct at time of writing).

Important note!
In France it is LAW that the plates are fixed to the car using a 5mm Pop Rivet, the French police (gendarmes) might be pointing a revelver through your windows IF they are NOT rivetted to the car with yellow head pop rivets (rear) or white for the front! A customer who lives in France has told as about people that have flouted this little known rule and the gendarmes take this very serious!... so take care !!!.
